New Year Reflections

Getting ready for the New Year

At this time of year, as we have a quieter spell of weddings, we like to make a little cup of tea, grab a pew at our laptop and take a wander back through the exciting journey that 2024 was for Sonning Flowers before the preparations for 2025 really begin.

Each and every beautiful wedding we were lucky enough to be a part of, holds a special place in our heart and we appreciate the trust given to us by our Brides and Grooms to fulfil their floral dreams for the happiest day of their life. Come along on our round up of our 2024 Colour Palette highlights for Weddings…

2024 Colour Palette Highlights

Summer Brights

Nothing says Summer Wedding quite like Cosmos, Phloxes and Larkspur, especially in shades of pink, purple, blue, lilac, white, orange and yellow. This colour palette usually includes a very wide range of flower varieties too, which all together looks as though it has been picked straight from a flowering meadow.

Powder Blue & White

Adorning this breathtaking Church in the centre of Oxford was an absolute joy for us. The blue and white colour palette had just enough colour to stand out but not distract from the incredible architecture. Blue and white has been a popular colour palette for many years, symbolising Peace and Purity and we look forward to using it in the years to come. A few of our favourite blue flowers include Delphinium and Oxypetalum.

Hot Pink

With the release of Barbie in 2023 we saw a rise in popularity of hot pink, and we fully embraced it! Bold Brides and Grooms using the colour as an accent colour as well as entire schemes, we jumped on the Hot Pink train and rode it all the way to Barbies Dream House! Our favourite Hot Pink flower to create this scheme with were Cosmos ‘Bipinnatus’ and ‘Pink Floyd’ Roses.

Moody Autumn

Autumnal weddings are on the rise, and we have loved creating moody colour palettes that exude opulence and drama, including shades of deep red, burnt orange, brown, berry, mauve and plum. Some of our favourite flowers to create this colour pallet are Butterfly Ranunculus, Astrantia ‘Roma’ and Dahlia ‘Dark Spirit’.

The Future

We’re so grateful for the flourishing year we’ve had, and through creating Wedding flowers, gift bouquets and workshops we hope to have spread happiness and an appreciation for flowers far and wide. We have many exciting plans, mood boards, meetings and projects under our belts for 2025 and 2026 so make sure to follow us on socials and subscribe to our newsletters to be the first to find out!
