Autumnal Wedding Flowers

Did you choose a September or October wedding? Lets talk Autumnal Wedding Flowers

With weather like we’ve had over the last few days, what a wonderful time of year to get married! The golden hour sunsets are like no other, and the slightly cooler temperatures are a slice of heaven for fresh flowers. And with the change of season comes a change of natures colours. So lets look at what Autumnal Wedding Flowers are most popular.

What seasonal flowers would we recommend for weddings in this autumnal season?

Well, a lot depends on your style and colour pallet but a couple of our firm favourites for a variety of different colour palettes include:

Dahlias

Their best season is usually September to October (frost dependant!) and there is an abundance to choose from at this time of year!

Pompom dahlias are a firm favourite of ours and with the most beautiful petals.

We also couldn’t be wedding florists without mentioning the gorgeous cafe au laits! Often known as the dinner plate dahlias and with their distinctively large flower heads, they add wow factor to bouquets and statement arrangements.

Rudbeckia

With their distinctive colour and vibrant style, they add a punch to any wedding scheme, whether it’s the more autumnal tones or bright and bold schemes.

The starry flowers come in shades of yellow, orange, dark reds and browns, how much more autumnal can you get?

And as Rudbeckia are herbacious hardy perennials they grow even into the winter months so are absolutely perfect for Autumnal Wedding Flowers.

Zinnias - Autumnal Wedding Flowers

Zinnias

Boasting beautiful lance-shaped leaves, long stems and vibrant hues, their eye-catching blooms are renowned for bringing joy and enchantment to floral arrangements.

Though predominantly Spring flowers the layered petal flowers complement a variety of blooms so are perfect in bouquets, centrepieces and corsages. And they look stunning in arches too.

And new Floret Zinnias (pictured) are absolutely gorgeous as wedding flowers.

Chrysanthemums

People tend to have a love hate relationship with Chrysanthemums. But in the right setting and amongst complimenting flowers and foliages, they really stand out as a timeless choice, symbolising longevity, joy and optimism.

As autumn blooming flowers they really are their best at this time of year and their versatility adds volume and texture to any arrangement.

And there is a beautiful variety of colours to choose from.

Hydrangea

Beautifully abundant, we adore hydrangea in the Autumn when they start to ‘harden off’ and are filled with wonderful muted red tones.

The oversized blooms create a full shape with intricate textures so lend themselves to any type of arrangement.

They are particularly good at adding impact in larger arrangements and statement arches. In fact we have a beautiful wedding scheduled later this month which does just that and will showcase these beautiful blooms in all their beauty.
