Rivervale Barn Wedding Flowers

Rivervale Barn is a beautiful, contemporary barn wedding venue, situated on the banks of the River Blackwater in Yateley. Faye and Duncan were married at Rivervale in November, and Sonning Flowers provided their wedding flowers.

Faye & Duncan had a navy blue, peach and gold theme, not the easiest of colours for flowers.  For Faye’s bouquet we used David Austin Juliet roses, white lisianthus, white anemone, blue eryngium, hypericum berries, scabious stellata, echiveria and dusty miller foliage.

Here’s Faye and Duncan’s wedding story in Faye’s own words.

The proposal

The proposal was a complete and utter surprise to me.  My (now) husband whisked me off to Iceland on a surprise holiday.  I had no idea why we were going there, but I wasn’t going to ask the reason, I mean I was being taken on holiday!  He planned everything perfectly.  On the first day we walked around and we came to a bay overlooking the sea with snowy mountains in the background.  Next thing I know he was down on one knee (yes, in the snow) and opened a little box.  Inside was his Great Grandmother’s engagement ring from 1914!  I was over the moon although it took me a while to register!  We had an amazing few days exploring Iceland, a holiday I will never forget.

The Bridal Party

My sisters were my two bridesmaids.  I didn’t pick a maid of honour as two people are always better than one 😉  My Mum walked me down the aisle.

The Big Day

Our big day couldn’t have gone any better.  We got married at Rivervale Barn in Yateley and it was a first venue we saw.  We had a look at others but Rivervale just stood out to us and had everything we were looking for in a venue.  The staff are amazing at Rivervale and couldn’t have made you feel any more special.  Our photographer was perfect, as was our wedding planner Lyndsay and they both just worked so well together.

I got ready at the venue as they had an amazing beauty room that had everything you needed.  I really wanted a nice chilled morning and that is what I got.  The staff provided us with fresh tea and coffee throughout the morning and we brought our own bubbles with us.

I made all the decorations myself to save on cost and the venue set it all out for me.  My colour scheme was navy, gold and peach.  I didn’t overdo it as I wanted to keep everything subtle as the venue was a barn so didn’t need a lot of decoration as it really did speak for itself.

Our wedding wasn’t massive, we had 60 people but it didn’t feel like the venue was empty.  Our wedding kicked off at 1:30pm and we ended our amazing evening at 11:45pm.

Everything went so smoothly and the whole day was magical.

Flower Story

I wanted my flowers to be done just right and I took a course with Sonning Flowers previously and just loved the people there and the creations they made, so I already had them at the top of my list.  They were also recommended to me by Bride to Be (where I bought my dress).  I was blown away by my flowers.  They were absolutely perfect and exactly what I had wanted.  I think all the flowers in my bouquet were my favourite.  I also loved how I had the white anemone flowers in my bouquet as they reminded me of poppies and as we were close to Remembrance Day it was lovely to have that.

Honeymoon

For our honeymoon we headed off to Las Vegas for four days and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for eight days. We had the time of our lives. Both of us wanted to continue the celebrations and what better way to do that then in Vegas. We then relaxed and hung out by the pool and crystal blue sea with cocktails in our hands in Mexico.
