Wedding Flowers: Before, During And After The Big Day

Posted on 28th September 2019

Your wedding is likely to be one of the happiest events of your life It’s also going to be one of the biggest events you ever throw – unless you’re an event planner! So it’s not surprising that you want to make sure everything is perfect, from the suits to the boutonnieres. But did you know that there are three stages to wedding flowers? Today, we wanted to guide you through each one, and show you how to make them all special and personal to you.

Design And Preparation:

This is perhaps the most important element of the whole process, as this is what determines what your wedding flowers will look, feel and smell like. You can get some great ideas for what you like from Pinterest, but those flowers have been designed for someone else, and not you! The best way to design your wedding flowers is to go and speak to a professional florist, like us. We will be able to take your ideas, style, venue and colours into account and design not just a bouquet, but a complete set of wedding flowers that tie your big day together and reflect your personality perfectly. Once you’ve decided on your designs, the florist can source and prepare them for you, delivering your flowers on the day and even dressing the venue with them.

It’s A Wonderful Day For Wedding Flowers

Posted on 2nd May 2019

There’s nothing quite like being able to see something in the flesh – especially flowers. You can pour over pictures for hours and hours, watch videos and swatch colours until your heart’s content, but nothing will quite be the same as holding them in your hands. For many brides, the first time they see their wedding flowers is on their wedding day, and it comes as a complete surprise. They might have known what flowers would be in the bouquet or on the tables, but how they look in person and what the pictures looked like can be completely different.

Bringing Wedding Flowers to Life

Speaking of pictures, we are absolutely delighted to share with you the results of our latest photo shoot. We got together with the wonderful Cascade Events and Hazel Buckley Photography to create a wedding-themed photo shoot for the new season. We had a great time creating hanging structures to put over top tables, dressing all sorts of tables in different styles and trying out some of the latest trends in floral design. It really let us flex our creative muscles and try something new, that many of our new brides might love in the years to come. We’d love to know what you think of the new styles and hear any suggestions you might have for new and exciting arrangements!

The Top 7 Wedding Flower Colours of 2019

Choosing a colour theme for your wedding can be baffling. Believe me, we’ve been there! And what we see most often is that it’s the flowers and the bridesmaids dresses that end up bringing a pop of colour to the day. But how do you go about choosing the right colours? Do you go with the colours you like to wear? Something that matches your bridesmaids dresses? Or maybe you pick your wedding colours based on the flowers that are in season, and lead with those.  Whatever method you use to choose your colours, it’s important that they represent you and tie in with the rest of your décor. To help you out, we’ve put together a list of the 7 most popular wedding flower colours and combinations that we see as florists, along with some examples so that you can see exactly what they would look like in your bouquet. To find out more, click here.

The Sonning Flowers Wedding Team would be happy to discuss your ideas with you, give advice and suggestions of flowers to match your theme.  We will follow up the consultation with a detailed quotation and Mood Board of ideas, so please drop us an email to arrange a consultation.

Wedding Flowers For Spring

Posted on 21st March 2019

Weddings, Wedding, Weddings!

Last month we were privileged to exhibit at the National Wedding Show. It was an absolutely magical weekend, with over 250 other wedding suppliers all sharing inspiration and ideas for weddings of all shapes and sizes. Not to mention a showstopping catwalk featuring thousands of dresses from all the leading designers. You couldn’t help but be inspired.
But you know that – you were there. And we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Here is a photo of our stand showing a range of wedding flowers for spring. If you would like to visit The National Wedding Show here are their Autumn dates.
